Annual Scientific Meeting of the Astronomische Gesellschaft jointly with the 5th biennial Workshop on Astroparticle Physics

Welcome

"Astronomy meets Astroparticle Physics" will be the motto of this year's annual symposium of the Astronomische Gesellschaft, held jointly with the biennial workshop on astroparticle physics in Germany of the Komitee für Astroteilchenphysik. Under the common theme of "Cosmic Matter", astronomers and astroparticle physicists will have the opportunity to exchange their research results in a rapidly advancing field. Results will be put into perspective by discussing the visionary roadmaps for astronomy and astroparticle physics on the European level, resulting from the activities of Astronet and Aspera. A special attraction will be the information desks set up by funding agencies (DFG, BMBF, HGF, ESO).

There will be parallel sessions on the following topics:

•Splinter E: Numerical Astrophysics (Klingenberg & Iapichino)

The symposium will be hosted by the University of Würzburg at its Hubland campus and at the historical "Neubaukirche" from 1586 where the award ceremonies will take place.

The award ceremonies and evening lectures will take place at the historical Neubaukirche, but most talks will be held at the University campus Am Hubland. The links will bring you to a Google Map for the respective location.

Wednesday, 26th September
Conference Dinner (24 €)

The Conference Dinner will take place at the „Stadtmensa“ (city refectory) which is located in downtown Würzburg and therefore a good starting point for discovering Würzburg‘s nightlife.
Lunches will be served at the University refectory (depicted here) which is just across the campus from the conference venue. Vegetarian menus are also available.

Thursday, 27th September
Wine Cellar Tour (18 €)

In the basement of the UNESCO world heritage Palace of Würzburg there is the oldest German winery. You can find more information about the Hofkeller and the tour at their website.
Friday, 28th September
Boat Trip to Veitshöchheim (13 €)

The summer residence of Würzburg‘s prince-bishops houses one of Germany‘s most famous Rococo gardens. The tour will start near the „Alter Kranen“ in Würzburg from where we start a ca. 40 minute boat tour to Veitshöchheim. There you can visit the castle with its gardens and enjoy the lovely countryside near the river Main.
